Antonio Damasio, geboren 1944, ist Professor für Neurowissenschaften, Neurologie und Psychologie an der University of Southern California und Direktor des dortigen Brain and Creativity Institute. Für seine Arbeit wurde er über die Jahre mit zahlreichen Preisen ausgezeichnet. Damasio ist Fellow der American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Mitglied der National Academy of Sciences sowie der Bayerischen Akademie der Wissenschaften. Seine Bücher, darunter „Descartes” Irrtum“ und „Ich fühle, also bin ich“, sind internationale Bestseller und wurden in über 30 Sprachen übersetzt.
