Er ist der Erfinder der fraktalen Geometrie. Seine »Mandelbrot-Menge« ziert Poster und T-Shirts. Sein Buch »Fraktale und Finanzen« über die Unberechenbarkeit der Finanzmärkte erschien 2007 bei Piper und ist ein internationaler Bestseller.
