Frederick William Robertson (1816–1853), often referred to as F. W. Robertson, was a renowned English divine and a master of the pulpit in the mid-19th century, whose life was marked by intellectual rigor and spiritual earnestness. Born on February 3, 1816, in London, Robertson was educated at Edinburgh University and subsequently at Brasenose College, Oxford. After his ordination in 1840, he served as chaplain and then as a curate in Cheltenham. However, it was his tenure at the Trinity Chapel in Brighton that solidified his reputation as a preacher of great depth and compassion.
