Jiang Rong wurde 1946 in der südchinesischen Provinz Jiangsu geboren. 1967 meldete er sich freiwillig zum Arbeitseinsatz in der Mongolei, wo er elf Jahre verbrachte. Sein Buch “Der Zorn der Wölfe”, an dem er sechs Jahre lang schrieb, sorgte auf Anhieb international für Furore. Es wurde mit zahlreichen Literaturpreisen ausgezeichnet und 2015 unter dem Titel “Der letzte Wolf” für das Kino verfilmt.
