Roy Taylor is Professor of Medicine and Metabolism at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and Newcastle Diabetes Centre. He is a member of the Project Advisory Group of the National Screening Programme for sight-threatening diabetic retinopathy and a former President of The British Association of Retinal Screeners. Professor Taylor lectures widely about diabetic retinopathy and is recognized as an outstanding teacher on the subject. Deborah Batey is a senior retinal screener and?quality assurance manager for the Newcastle retinal screening service. She has a major role in teaching and training retinal screeners.
