The book tells: In 1872, Mr. Fokker made a bet with his members at the Reformed Club in London that he would travel around the globe in 80 days. Under the circumstances at the time, this is indeed a difficult thing to do, because travelers must know the time very accurately. If there is a slight delay, the whole travel plan will be out of touch and all efforts will be lost. However, Mr. Fokker set off from London and passed through the four continents of Europe, Africa, Asia, and America. Overcoming countless natural and man-made obstacles with a firm will, he finally returned to London after traveling the globe for a week in 80 days, and even completed the task one day in advance.
