Proust was one of the greatest literary masters establishing schools of the whole twentieth Century.Remembrance of Things Past consists of numerous works and is one of the most famous and difficult works in the history of literature.The whole book takes the narrator "I" as the main body and integrates what it sees and heard. It has a real description of the social life and human feelings and realities. It is also a record of the inner experience of the author”s self pursuit and self understanding.It can be said to be a tree of novel with many branches on the backbone of a novel. It can also be said to be a huge symphony orchestra with several themes.Un amour de Swann is the only one that can separated form the Remembrance of Things Past, which is called "narration" and "stories telling" by French, and called "solo" or "aria" by musicians, it is just like the Wagner prelude that Proust likes, which can be published or played alone.Un amour de Swann is the originally a section of the Vol. 1, Swann”s Way, but it is the only novel in the third-person narrative form of the whole monumental work, and the others are all with "me" (Marcel) as the narrator.In 1913, Proust pointed out in a letter:The chapter Swann”s Way, especially the Un amour de Swann, is full of hints, which can be called a "prelude". It is the concentration of the book Remembrance of Things Past.
