Even though Emma knows that her grandmother has bad stomach cancer and will die from it, she wants to do anything to help her Grandma. So, she tries to convince the doctors to make Grandma healthy again, to persuade Grandma to have chemotherapy done, and to invent her own medication. When Emma sees that none of this helps, she tries unsuccessfully to scold the cancer. As a last resort to help Grandma, Emma tries to reconcile with cancer and be nice to ‘him.’ When the cancer does not go away, Emma has to realize that it is time to say goodbye to her beloved Grandma. Together Emma and her grandmother remember all the wonderful days they spent together.

About the author

Daniela Landsberg, born on February 29, 1980 in Mainz, studied biology, German and psychology. Her first short story came while she was studying to become a teacher when she wanted to show her lecturer that Christmas doesn’t always mean ‘perfect world’ and ‘big family.’ When she was writing the short story, she found that she enjoyed writing it and decided to continue writing. When she’s not writing, she likes to spend time with her cats, try to learn the piano, and get her chocolate addiction under control. As a former tournament dancer, you don’t see her addiction. Daniela is an absolute night person, and as a person with Asperger’s syndrome, she enjoys the peace and quiet when all other living beings are sleeping.
