Beate Schäfer, 1961 bei Frankfurt am Main geboren, studierte Germanistik, Geschichte und Amerikanistik in München und arbeitete lange als Verlagslektorin. An der Alice-Salomon-Hochschule Berlin absolvierte sie eine Ausbildung als Schreibpädagogin. Inzwischen lebt sie als Übersetzerin und freie Lektorin in München und leitet daneben Seminare und Schreibwerkstätten für Autor*innen und interessierte Laien.
