Wendy Bertrand

Wendy Bertrand has been a mother since 1966 and a registered California architect since 1978.She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a bachelor of architecture (1971), and with a master of architecture (1972) after study in France at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Aix-en Provence (1964) and in Montpellier (1965). She divides her time between her city house in San Francisco and her country cabin in Del Norte County, and frequently visits southern France, where her daughter, Chanette Manso, is one of the top internationally recognized light painters.She encourages women in architecture around the world and she is an active founder of the San Francisco Bay Area Organization of Women Architects and Design Professionals: owa-usa.org She hopes her memoir will trigger more women to write about their lives as architects as the public needs to learn about architecture from many different points of view.
