Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. This little book has for some time been out Of print, and as a considerable portion Of its contents necessarily is of only more or less ephemeral interest, I had not intended to republish it. I have, however, received so many let ters Of inquiry from correspondents, both here and on the other side of the Atlantic, as to the probable date of a new edition, that it is clear there is still a considerable demand for the book. I hope I am not wrong in interpreting this as a sign that the public at large is becoming more and more penetrated with the conviction that Hypnotism, when it is not a pernicious fraud, is a mere futility which should have no place in the life of.
