Fyodor Dostoevsky (1821–1881) was a Russian writer known for his exploration of the tense political and social atmosphere in nineteenth-century Russia. With a deep interest in religion and the human condition, his writing is largely philosophical, and he’s recognised as one of the first authors of existentialist fiction.
