I mean “What the L ?” in a buoyant, smart-ass, get-a-load-of-this, relentlessly optimistic, might-as-well-live “What the L?” tone. A leap of faith, if you will. And I will. I am a faith-based comic. In addition to the frivolous, salutary pleasure of laughing, I believe in the power of laughter to subvert authority and promote democracy.

With a career spanning almost thirty years, Kate Clinton has worked through economic booms and busts, Disneyfication and Walmartization, gay movements and gay markets, lesbian chic and queer eyes, and eight presidential inaugurals. She still believes that humor gets us through peacetime, wartime, scoundrel time and economic down times.
