He is the recipient of the Wallace Stegner Award and the Roderick Haig-Brown Award, and he wrote and narrated the award-winning PBS film “Yellowstone: America”s Sacred Wilderness.” He is currently a scholar-in-residence at Montana State University Library, Bozeman.
