Slow Down, Henry! 
A Life Lesson for Some of Our Favorite Little Friends and Also for Some of Our Not-So-Little Friends

Henry is a happy boy who lives with his mother in a suburban town. His grandmother, a wonderful baker, lives nearby too. Henry loves to go to school and has lots of friends. But Henry is always in a rush!

Henry thinks that being first is the most important thing in the whole world, so he works as hard as he can to be the first at everything. Everyone in Henrys life tries to tell him to slow down, but he just doesnt understand why.

But when a very special event occurs in Henrys life, he finds out about the dangers of rushing around and trying to be first. Now that hes seen what can happen, will Henry finally slow downor will he just keep living his life like a race, always trying to come in first no matter what?

About the author

Meryle Wooster Rubenstein, currently a stay-at-home mom, earned her BA from American University in Washington, DC, and her master’s degree in early childhood education from New York University. She was the director of a preschool for ten years before marrying and having three children. She currently lives on Long Island, New York, with her three children and her Yorkshire terrier.



Ethan Schaier is an illustrator and filmmaker from the North Shore of Boston. He recently gravduated Ithaca College with a Bachelor of Science in Cinema Photography and a minor in Visual Arts. This is Ethan’s first book that he has illustrated but is something he plans to continue doing.
