Subjectivity, Gender and the Struggle for Recognition 

In this book Paddy Mc Queen examines the role that ‘recognition’ plays in our struggles to construct an identity and to make sense of ourselves as gendered beings. It analyses how such struggles for gender recognition are shaped by social discourses and power relations, and considers how feminism can best respond to these issues.

About the author

Paddy Mc Queen is a Research Fellow at Queen’s University, Belfast, where he also obtained his Ph D. His primary research explores issues of subjectivity, gender, agency and power in philosophy and political theory. He is the co-author of Key Concepts in Philosophy (Palgrave, 2010).
