Thomas Taylor, geboren in Norwich, wuchs an der Küste von Wales auf. In seiner Kindheit zeichnete er häufig, am liebsten während des Matheunterrichts. Nach seinem Studium an der Kunstakademie illustrierte er zunächst Bücher und gestaltete unter anderem das englische Cover zu J. K. Rowlings „Harry Potter und der Stein der Weisen“. Schließlich begann er selbst Bücher zu schreiben. „Wettlauf in der Nacht“ ist sein erster Roman. Nachdem Thomas Taylor einige Jahre in Frankreich verbracht hat, lebt er jetzt mit seiner Familie in England.
