Portada de Christopher Frederic Lapinel: Nimita (ePUB)

In Taíno folklore, it is said that forest fireflies are a vision of our ancestors eyes, watching us. What do our ancestors see when they open their eyes at twilight? What would they make of how we treat Mother Earth? This story is a glimpse into the heart of Nimita, a Taíno-Cuban child. Her immigrant family started over by creating a sanctuary for farm animals. This story is a celebration of traditional culture, person-hood, kinship, and belonging. Yet it also articulates the urgency of embracing ecologically humane values.
