For eight years, David taught at a large elementary school in the Bronx, guiding his students to numerous New York City, New York State chess championships, as well as winning three national titles. His work at that school became the basis for a film, Knight of the South Bronx, starring Ted Danson. He has trained hundreds of chess players to become chess teachers and teachers to teach chess, both in America and abroad.
