He is interested in cultivating tulip and is trying to grow a large pure black tulip without any other color because the first man to grow a black tulip would be awarded with a considerable bonus. Boxtel, neighbor of Baerle planned to cultivate black tulip to win the prize. Boxtel was jealous about Baerle and feared about his success. He watch the move of Baerle and attempted to destroy his tulip by every means. In addition, he falsely accuse Baerle”s hide of the letter of Dutch governor.
