This book is a single-point survey and research on the dialect of Xian County, Hebei. Hebei”s Xianxian dialect belongs to the Jilu Mandarin with great internal differences. Since the Western missionaries who began the research more than a hundred years ago, there have been many survey recorder, such as Sinologist Dai Suiliang and dialectologist Chen Shujing. This book uses a structuralist description of linguistics to describe the phonetic, vocabulary, and grammar of Xianxian dialect in Hebei. From the perspective of historical linguistics, the phonetic system of Xianxian dialect has been compared with that of the Middle Ancient times, and the characteristics of the evolution of the tones of Xianxian dialect are summarized. In addition, the book also provides a detailed vocabulary list and corpus phonetics.
