I was only seventeen when I was thrown into the turbulent sea of Iranian political and social upheaval of the 80s. Unlike many of my friends, I survived living through the revolution, a semi-civil war and an eight-year war with the neighbouring country.

Although I have managed to have a peaceful life in a lovely corner of the world, the wounds of those years were never healed. For all these years, the innocent eyes of young adults and children severely punished by the Islamic regime have been asking me to tell their stories to the world. Sometimes I think that I survived that deadly hell to tell the heartbreaking story of my innocent friends.

This is the story of teenagers and children who got caught up in a political and religious game they had no idea of its rules.

This story happened in one of the darkest periods in my country’s history and is a lament on lost lives and humanity.

The places, characters, and events in this story are based on reality, although the names have been changed and sometimes the characters, events, and locations have been merged or separated.
