About the author

One of the most prolific writers of the Victorian era,
Anthony Trollope (1815-82) did not begin his career as a novelist until he was in his thirties. In addition to his novels, most of them multi-volume ‘triple-deckers, ‘ he also wrote sketches, short stories, travel books, and biographies of classical figures.
