Carmen Luján García is a lecturer at the Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, where she teaches EFL. Her main field of research is sociolinguistics, though she has also worked on other fields such as the use of new technologies in English language teaching. She has published books including: La lengua inglesa en Canarias: Usos y Actitudes (Cabildo de Gran Canaria, 2003); La globalización y el inglés en la sociedad española (EAE Publishing, 2012); and textbooks including: English, Technology and Telecommunications (co-authored with Soraya García Sánchez; ECU, 2010), and English for Geographers (ECU, 2010). Some of her notable papers published in international journals are: “English “Invasion” in Spain: An Analysis of Toys Leaflets Addressed to Young Children” in English Today, vol. 27: 3–9 (2011) and “The Impact of English on Spanish Daily Life: Some Pedagogical Implications” in the Nordic Journal of English Studies, vol. 11: 1–21 (2012).
