About the author
Eleanor Sleath (1770–1847) was an English novelist known for her contributions to the gothic fiction genre during the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. Little is known about Sleath’s personal life, but she achieved recognition with her novel ‘The Orphan of the Rhine’ (1798).
