Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. As a thoroughgoing revision of my work did not yet seem to me to be expedient, I have restricted my self, so far as the text is concerned, to the correction of typographical errors, and have referred to the works that have appeared since its original publication, as far, as possible, in a few appendices.
