ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Helen Keller was born on June 27, 1880. A life-threatening illness at the age of 19 months took away her vision and hearing. Her parents contacted Perkins institute for the Blind in Boston at the recommendation of Alexander Graham Bell. Here, Helen Keller was introduced to Anne Sullivan, a tutor, who played an important role in her life educating her and bringing her talents out to the world. She received many honorary degrees and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. She has also written The World I live In and Helen Keller’s Journal. She died on June 1, 1968.
