About the author




Jane Ellen Harrison (1850–1928) was an English authority on ancient Greek religion, a linguist, and feminist. One of the first female students at University of Cambridge, she went on to teach classics at Newnham College, Cambridge. A friend of Walter Pater, Virginia Woolf, Lytton Strachey, and Clive Bell—Harrison became one of the Bloomsbury group members. She is best known for her works
