The Small Catechism of Martin Luther (popularly known as Luther's Little Instruction Book) was written in 1592 as a resource for fathers to utilize for the purpose of better instructing their children and household members. Luther's primary purpose in penning this catechism was to clear up confusion on points of faith that had been occurring in Germany due to the proliferation of Catholic, Lutheran, and Reformed teaching.
