Thomas Spence Smith is a Professor of Sociology at the University of Rochester, New York, USA. He received his BS from Johns Hopkins University in Illinois. His work has appeared in leading sociological journals and in his much-praised theoretical monograph Strong Interaction (1992). His interests range from the study of interaction and attachment behavior to the sociology of culture and computational modelling.
