Alexander Strachan is an award-winning author. He received the Eugène Marais prize for his first book, ’n Wêreld sonder grense. His debut novel,  Die Jakkalsjagter,  brought him the De Kat/Potpourri prize. This was followed by Die Werfbobbejaan,  Agter die suikergordyn,  Dwaalpoort and Brandwaterkom, for which he received the kyk NET-Rapport prize.
