Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. The present volume consists Of journals written with the same intent and plan as those which preceded them. They describe, nearly word for word as they were written, my impressions Of. The nature of the landscape in those portions Of Corsica through which I travelled. It is possible that the literary part, Of this book may not prove Of equal interest with that Of the publica tions above named; not, indeed, from any want Of merit in the subject, but because I have now no longer the help of friends who then kindly assisted me by their criticisms, especially the late Robert A. Hornby, Esq., and Richard Ford, Esq. But the aim Of all these journals Should be looked on as the same, simply to be aids to the knowledge of scenery which I have visited and delineated.
