Super J and The Power of Love is a new pro-life children’s book that seeks to highlight the beautiful gift of love, joy and goodness that children with Down syndrome bring into this world. It is a book that seeks to replace despair with hope and fear with faith.This book was originally written by the author as a story for a little boy with Down syndrome who was facing a surgery. She wanted him to know that because of his extra chromosome, he had a power to change the hearts and lives of all those he met with the power of love.The book is full of vibrant illustrations by Sam Estrada who has also published graphic novels of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Our Lady of Fatima and most recently, a St.Joseph Graphic Novel with Fr.Calloway.The author, Jennifer Nelson, hopes that Super J can show forth the inherent dignity and worth of children with Down syndrome. The book is a wonderful gift for children to show them that people with Down syndrome have a mission from God and that they are given special gifts by Him to share with others. Written in rhyming format, this is a great book to read to young children and for early readers to eventually read on their own.For many parents who have a child with Down syndrome, doctors have them prepare for the worst. So many of them waited for a life of sorrow.
