A Joe Bird Adventure

When Special Agent Joe Bird of the National Park Service agrees to take a much needed vacation, he gets visited by an FBI Special Agent who requests his assistance investigating the questionable financial activities of a megachurch located in Bird’s jurisdiction in North Carolina. Bird joins forces to determine the extent of the suspected criminal enterprise near Nantahala Lake in Macon County. The good news is that FBI Special Agent Clint Robinson just happens to be his brother-in-law. The bad news is Bird’s physician wife informs him that a very strange disease has begun spreading in the community and its origin seems to be associated with the megachurch. Meanwhile, as their undercover investigation begins to unfold, illnesses and bodies begin piling up around Joe’s region in alarming numbers. In the space of two short weeks, they encounter obstacles thrown at them by nature and situations that come perilously close to them losing their own lives. They are left to trust their own instincts to survive.
