Sabine Ludwig wurde in Berlin geboren. Nach dem Studium arbeitete sie kurze Zeit als Gymnasiallehrerin. Danach war sie Rundfunkredakteurin, bis sie sich als Autorin selbstständig machte. Sie hat zahlreiche Kinder- und Jugendbücher geschrieben, die mehrfach ausgezeichnet und in viele Sprachen übersetzt wurden. Sie selbst übersetzt aus dem Englischen und wurde dafür u.a. für den Deutschen Jugendliteraturpreis nominiert. 2010 wurde sie zur »Lesekünstlerin des Jahres« gewählt. Sabine Ludwig lebt mit ihrer Familie in Berlin.
