The ‚Untimely Meditations, ‚ or ‚Thoughts out of Season, ‚ is a compilation of four pieces written by noted philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche between 1873 and 1876. In the first article ‚David Strauss: the Confessor and the Writer‘, Nietzsche challenges David Strauss‘ ‚The Old and the New Faith: A Confession‘. Nietzsche provides an alternative method of understanding history in his second essay, ‚On the Use and Abuse of History for Living, ‚ in which experiencing life becomes the major goal. In the third article, ‚Schopenhauer as Educator, ‚ Nietzsche discusses how Schopenhauer’s intellectual talent may lead to a revival of German culture. In the fourth and last essay, ‚Richard Wagner in Bayreuth, ‚ Nietzsche explores Richard Wagner’s music, drama, and personality.
