This book is a collection of short stories. In 1920, Babel, 26, as a war reporter, followed the first cavalry of the Soviet Red Army under Commander Bujoni to attack Poland. The war lasted three months. Babel witnessed the last large-scale and unprecedented cavalry battle in European history and human history. Several years later, according to the experience of this expedition, he successively created more than 30 short and concise works, including sketches of the battlefield and military stories.
