Joel Rothschild is a long-term AIDS survivor. He was born and raised in Miami Beach, Florida. After graduating from Florida Atlantic University he pursued his hobby of bodybuilding and opened a health spa in Atlanta, Georgia. It was an immediate success, and attracted celebrities such as Arnold Schwartzenegger and Bruce Springsteen. After a few years in Atlanta he moved to Los Angeles, where he has lived ever since, outliving his doctors’ prognosis for death (and outliving two of his doctors). He has worked as an AIDS activist, and he volunteers and supports several charities.
