Growing up I was lucky to live many places with my Marine Corps family but „home“ was always my grandparents“ ranch. After graduating from nursing school in Virginia I moved west to be close to them and had chickens, ducks, pigs, goats, turkeys, geese, horses and a cow. The account of the hen who raised ducks really happened, and several years later when one of my patients and I were laughing over the tale, Eleanor suggested I write it down. So I did.
