Klaus Modick, geboren 1951, studierte in Hamburg Germanistik, Geschichte und Pädagogik, promovierte mit einer Arbeit über Lion Feuchtwanger. Seit 1984 ist er freier Schriftsteller und Übersetzer und lebt nach diversen Auslandsaufenthalten und Dozenturen wieder in seiner Geburtsstadt Oldenburg. Für sein umfangreiches Werk wurde er mit zahlreichen Preisen ausgezeichnet, u.a. mit dem Nicolas-Born-Preis, dem Bettina-von-Arnim-Preis, dem Rheingau Literatur Preis und zuletzt dem Hannelore-Greve-Preis. Zudem war er Stipendiat der Villa Massimo sowie der Villa Aurora. Zu seinen erfolgreichsten Romanen zählen »Der kretische Gast« (2003), »Sunset« (2011), »Konzert ohne Dichter« (2015) und »Keyserlings Geheimnis« (2018). Zuletzt erschien »Leonard Cohen« (2020) und der Roman »Fahrtwind« (2021).
