Seit dem Studium an der Fachhochschule Niederrhein arbeitete er für die BASF-Coatings AG, hauptsächlich in der Entwicklung von Bindemitteln. Zuletzt war er verantwortlich für OEM-Klarlacke. Zahlreiche Veröffentlichungen und Patente.
