Dr Rudolf C. Heredia teaches Sociology at St. Xavier“s College, Bombay where he is also the Director of the Social Science Centre. He has authored Structure and Performance of College Education: An Organisational Analysis of Arts and Science Colleges in Bombay (Bombay, Somaiya, 1981), Religious and Social Change: Behavioural Responses in Bombay University, and Settlements and Shelter: Alternative Housing for the Urban poor in Bombay, (both published by the Indian Social Institute, New Delhi, in 1984 and 1986 respectively). At present, he is working on a study of tribal education and another on urban housing.
