Walter Alexander Raleigh (1861-1922), born in London, was a poet and scholar—writing widely on war and on the Romantic revival. A professor for much of his life, Raleigh“s works include The War in the Air, The English Novel, Robert Louis Stevenson, and the poem “Wishes of an Elderly Man Wished at a Garden Party, June 1914.“ He was knighted in 1911.
