It is not so difficult to decide whether science and faith are being linked up. Except in the works of some ephemeral schools of thinkers and writers, conclusive evidence of reconciliation may be found, and it is certain that the religious outlook is becoming lastingly affected by certain scientific demonstrations. For in stance, psycho-therapeutics furnishes a link between the high mystic and the mental specialist. On the whole there is a conviction that a change of mental outlook is taking place, but opinion is divided as to whether this change is materialistic, religious or otherwise idealistic. It is Obvious that the division is caused by the very unsatis factory use oi the term Spiritualism, which seems to possess a human capacity of adapting itself to all sorts of queer purposes.
