George Moore
In Single Strictness (Barnes & Noble Digital Library)

Soporte

In this collection of stories published in 1922, Moore returns to the theme of sexual repression he explored in The Celibates. In each chapter of the book, Moore examines a different character wrestling with sexuality in one way or another. Moore gives the greatest attention to the story of Hugh Monfert—a man who struggles for years to discern his sexuality.

Sobre el autor

George Augustus Moore (1852-1933) was a pioneering modern Irish writer. He had to fight against censorship early in his career. Despite the powerful forces arrayed against him, Moore succeeded in establishing realism as a legitimate literary mode.  His best-known novels include A Mummer’s Wife (1885) and Esther Waters (1894).
