Portada de Honore de Balzac: The Wild Ass's Skin (Barnes & Noble Digital Library) (ePUB)

In this 1831 novel, a young man finds a piece of magical rawhide and begins making wishes. However, with each wish that is granted, the skin shrinks, and the man becomes feebler. A warning against greed, the novel established Balzac’s literary reputation.  Upon publication, it sold out instantly.

Sobre el autor

Honore de Balzac (1799-1850) was one of the supreme French novelists. His monumental series of stories and novels, La Comedie humaine, was his masterwork—describing life in France in the post-Napoleonic era. Regarded as a founding father of realism, his characters were drawn with a depth previously absent from literature.
