Kitab Suci Al-Qur’an sebagai wahyu yang diturunkan Allah SWT kepada Nabi Muhammad SAW, sekaligus merupakan pemecah persoalan-persoalan kemanusiaan di berbagai segi kehidupan, baik yang berkaitan dengan masalah kejiwaan, jasmani, sosial, ekonomi maupun politik, dengan pemecahan yang peuh bijaksana, karena ia diturunkan oleh yang Maha Bijaksana lagi Maha Terpuji.

Untuk menjawab setiap problem yang ada, Al-Qur’an meletakkan dasar-dasar umum yang dapat dijadikan landasan oleh manusia, yang relevan di segala zaman. Dengan demikian, Al-Qur’an yang juga diturunkan kepada golongan jin disamping kepada manusia ini akan selalu aktual di setiap waktu dan tempat. Sebab, Islam adalah agama abadi.

Nama lain dari Al-Qur’an, di antaarnya; Quran ( Al Isra’: 9) dan (Al Anbiya’ :10), Furqan (Al Furqan : 1), Zikr ( Al Hijr: 9), Tanzil ( As Syuara’ : 192).

Al-Qur’an dan Al-Kitab lebih popular dari nama-nama lainnya. Dalam hal ini, Muhammad Abdullah Darraz berkata, “Dinamakan Al-Qur’an karena ia dibaca dengan lisan, dan dinamakan Al-Kitab karena ia ditulis dengan pena. Kedua nama ini menunjukkan makna yang relevan sekali dengan kenyatannya.”

Sifatnya Al-Qur’an di antaranya: Nur ( An Nisa’: 174), Huda, Syifa’, Rahmah ( yunus: 57 ), Mubin ( Al Maidah:57), Mubarak ( Al Anam: 92), Busyra ( Al Baqarah: 97), Aziz ( Fussilat: 41), Majid ( Al Buruj: 21), Basyir ( Fussilat : 3-4).

The Noble Quran, the last revealed word of God, is the primary source of every Muslim’s faith and practice. It deals with all the subjects which concern human beings: wisdom, doctrine, worship, transactions, law, etc., but its basic theme is the relationship between God and His creatures. At the same time, it provides guidelines and detailed teachings for a just society, proper human conduct, and an equitable economic system.

The Quran represents the fountainhead of Divine guidance for every Muslim. Its revelation to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his practical implementation of the revelation, completed God’s blessing for humanity, in providing us with a belief and value system that is valid for all times.

The Quran confirms the revelations given to earlier Prophets, though these might not be accessible to us, in the form they were originally revealed. The most sublime language and a rational message that directly appeals to the human heart have caused this Divine book to move nations and civilizations. It will continue to guide those who turn to God with a sincere heart, for all times.
