Hewlett’s literary career began with the publication of his first book, ‘The Forest Lovers’ (1898), which established him as a romantic novelist of the historical genre. ‘Rest Harrow: A Comedy of Resolution’ (1910) is another notable work in his oeuvre, encapsulating his adeptness in blending pastoral narratives with elements of romantic idealism, a hallmark of his fiction.
