Jesus was stone-faced in his resolve and yet had compassion on those he ministered to. Exercise imparts a steely disposition to not let ourselves be corrupted by this world, but rather, look forward to eternity. Participating in exercise, whether for fitness or athletics, begins in the theoretical realm of the heart and extends distally to the animation of the body through movement. A literal overcoming of resistance is relayed thus linking us to Christ in mindset and behavior, as he suffered in various forms throughout his life too.
