Portada de Thomas Love Peacock: The Misfortunes of Elphin (Barnes & Noble Digital Library) (ePUB)

Considered one of Peacock’s best works by his fans, this 1829 comic romance is set during the legendary reign of King Arthur. Peacock uses a historical format, but incorporates his typical sarcasm. The novel’s editor, Richard Garnett, describes the book in his introduction as unique among the author’s works.  ‘In the charm of romantic incident, ‘ writes Garnett, ‘it surpasses them all.’

Sobre el autor

Thomas Love Peacock (1785-1866) was an English novelist and poet, an intimate of Shelley and other Romantic poets.  His best-known novel, Nightmare Abbey (1818), was a satire of gothic novels and the Romantic movement.  His death had a certain tragic irony:  he succumbed to injuries sustained while attempting to rescue his books from a fire.
